Project Relase 0.1

Introduction:

This is the first release of the Andora project. Please refer to my previous blog post for the detailed project intro and plan. => Andora Project Plan

Bacially I will be working on two packages for the Andora project, andora-logos and andora-fedora-remix-release.

andora-logos -- This package will contain replacements for the Fedora logos, including the Andora logo where appropriate. It would probably also be a good idea to produce a Andora-backgrounds package with Andora-branded wallpaper. 

andora-fedora-remix-release -- This package will contain Andora-Fedora Remix release files such as yum configs and various /etc/ files that define the release. 

The Art Work:

First, I did several logo design for Andora. After talking to Raymond and John, I've decided to use this one as the final logo for Andora.

Building the Packages:

In order to build the logo and release packages, I've downloaded the generic logo package and generic release package from Fedora.

- andora-logo package:
What I need to do is to check all the logo sizes and format in the generic logo package, and replace with the new andora logo. So I replaced the logos and re-compressed the tarball. Also I edited the SPEC file that comes with the generic logo source RPM package. The building process wasn't successful since it requires the KDE package in the SPEC file. For testing purpose I commented out the Required package line and it still gave me an error message for the non-exist directory. I will build this package in a KDE environment and fix up the error in SPEC file.

 - andora-fedora-remix-release package:
For this package, I edited the existing fedora.repo file into andora.repo and replaced the URL to the andora URL. Since I will be hosting the andora repository on my matrix account, I will upload the signed andora package and the certificate after the andora-logo successfully packaged. This package also includes andora-release-notes package so I will ask project partner Gloria to send me her work.

Release 0.1

I will be continuing working on packaging the andora-logo rpm and also design a new wallpaper based on the logo I‘ve selected for Andora desktop.
